Sometimes people hide behind a smile. They can’t afford to show you how sad and hopeless they really feel - they don’t want to be labeled as “emo”, “freak”, “weirdo” etc. They’re scared to tell you what’s wrong because they don’t want to be broken down and left again, so instead, they give you a smile just for the sake of it. Behind a person’s smile may be a story untold.
